Rainbow Falls – Fishing and Fund Raising
March 11, 2017
On March 11, West Denver will combine a fund-raising event with a great day of fishing! Rainbow Falls is a ranch located off Highway 67, about 12-13 miles south of Deckers. It was once the site of Colorado’s first hatchery (circa 1875). The ranch consists of 100 acres of land situated in a beautiful valley. There are 9 lakes on the property, and about 1 ½ miles of stream courses through the valley as well. The lakes and stream are fed by a spring that has a constant temperature of 51 degrees.
A family owns the ranch, and it has converted the property into an exclusive fishing club. The lakes and stream are stocked periodically with browns, rainbows, and Donaldson steelheads (all big fish). We have had discussions with the family, and they have agreed to give us use of the ranch on March 11. The Chapter will provide the food and beverages. There are a number of pavilions (with tables) in the valley that will allow you to rest and eat. Porta-potties will be provided. There is also a large barn on the property if we need to congregate together.
Attendees are asked to contribute $200 for the event—for all the food and drink you can consume and for the privilege of fishing some prime water located in a gorgeous setting. It should be a fun day for all. If you’re interested in attending, note that registrations will be accepted for the first 50 fully paid registrants. To register, please send a check issued to West Denver Trout Unlimited for $200 per angler to Matt Rivera’s attention at 8189 Webster Street, Arvada, CO 80003. For more information, contact either Matt Rivera (303-425-9351) or Jon Weimer (303-830-1609).
