Kirk is the editor of TROUT magazine and an editor-at-large for Field & Stream. He is known for gonzo fishing story angles and has earned various awards, including top “Excellence in Craft” honors for his fishing stories from the Outdoor Writers Association of America. His travels have taken him from the tip of Tierra del Fuego in Argentina, to the Amazon jungle, to above the Arctic Circle in Russia and Alaska. The Little Red Book of Fly Fishing, which he co-wrote with the late Charlie Meyers, former outdoors editor of The Denver Post, is a fly-fishing bestseller, now in its sixth printing. He also wrote The Orvis Guide to Fly Fishing for Carp.
