Colorado TU Recognizes Outstanding Volunteers

At Colorado Trout Unlimited’s annual meeting on November 15, two West Denver Chapter members were presented with Outstanding Volunteer Awards. Ashley Giles, current WDTU President, was recognized for her tireless conservation work in the Clear Creek watershed. She managed the Integrated Stream Management Plan process, building relationships with stakeholders from its headwaters to its confluence with the South Platte. She secured a $10,000 grant to plant trees to improve the riparian habitat along Clear Creek in Wheat Ridge. She also received a $5,000 grant for CC conservation work. She serves as the Chapter’s Conservation Director, and manages the River Watch program on the Creek. And, she does a lot of other stuff as a Clear Creek Champion.

Bob Clark was recognized for his tireless work supporting the Chapter. Bob is known as Mr. Everything, and he shows up Everywhere. He is a keystone of Chapter strength. Some of the things Bob does:

Manages our storage unit inventory

Sells raffle tickets at Chapter meetings

Manages our major fundraiser, the Fantasy Raffle

Brings snacks and drinks to our events

Helps with events like the tree planting, Colorado Public Lands Day, Windy Peak, Let’s Go Fishing, Let’s Go Camping

Says “Yes” far too often than he should!

Many thanks to Ashley and Bob for their generous contributions to the Chapter. Well deserved recognition!
