Colorado Parks & Wildlife recently published their first advertisement for a women’s fishing clinic at Lake Lehow, the CPW facility near Waterton Canyon on Sunday. The free Women’s Fly Fishing 101 introductory session is Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A 201-river experience will be scheduled for date(s) to be determined afterward depending on how many participants are interested.
Colorado Women’s Flyfishers will take the lead on instructions along with WDTU members who have expressed an interest. CPW has invited our Chapter to supply any printed instructional materials for distribution. CPW will also supply instruction manuals and all fly-fishing gear to the participants.
Two other fly fishing 101 clinics at the facility have been posted for general participation. Those dates are Saturday, April 8, 2023 and Saturday, May 6, 2023. All gear can be supplied, or participants can bring their own gear. It is a private facility, and no fishing license is required there. All sessions will need some of the WDTU members who have expressed an interest in volunteering. John Semich will be in contact with CPW as the sessions get closer and the number of interested participants are counted. Please contact him if you are interested in volunteering for these great events.
The CPW link for female participants to register for the Sunday, May 7, 2023 event is now open. Please register on the CPW website. Other fishing instruction sessions are available and more will be posted on the CPW calendar for registration in the near future.
