SUMMARY:October Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Karin Miller\nTopic: Tenkara: Different Destinations\, Different Species\n \nKarin Miller is the owner of Zen Tenkara/Zen Fly Fishing Gear\, a Colorado company that designs\, manufactures and sells a broad range of tenkara fly rods\, lines and accessories. Her company\, since its start in 2012\, is revolutionizing this fixed-line method and is known for creating a “fusion” of traditional fly fishing and tenkara to target not only small traditional tenkara species\, but also large\, powerful fish not typically associated with the ancient Japanese method. Zen has a reputation of being innovative\, cutting edge and pushing boundaries with their high performance rods. Together\, they’re defining “American tenkara”. \nKarin travels extensively both in and out of the US to test rods\, present\, train guides and give demos. If she’s not in the office\, she’s chasing different fish species or attempting to explode her rods and find the next adrenaline rush. She’s lived in Colorado since 1999 and is originally from South Florida. \n  \nExtension Cords and Power Strip Drive\nWe had a break in at our storage unit\, and are in desperate need of extension cords and power strips. (those Chili Supper crock pots all need power!). You can bring them to the October Chapter Meeting. \nAnyone donating cords or power strips will be entered in a special chapter meeting drawing. One entry for each item donated. The winner receives a fly box with six dozen flies\, a $200 value. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Arvada on Tap—Volunteers Wanted!
DESCRIPTION:An objective of our Chapter is to be more integrated with our local communities\, i.e.\, Arvada\, Golden\, Idaho Springs\, Lakewood\, and Wheat Ridge. To that end\, we’re beginning to engage in a number of quid-pro-quo arrangements with these communities—we help them with selected events\, and these communities allow us to set up a booth to disseminate information about our Chapter in hopes of generating more angler interest in our organization\, and possibly increasing membership. \n\n\n\n\n\nArvada on Tap\n\n\n\n\n\nOn June 22 nd \, the city of Arvada is sponsoring “Arvada on Tap”\, a craft beer and BBQ fest. Breweries from all over Colorado will be present\, offering 3-ounce samples and 12-ounce pours of their latest offerings. In addition\, there will be live music and home brewing demonstrations. Our Chapter has been invited to provide volunteers for this event\, which will be held at the Ralston Park Addition at 64 th and Simms Street. As a full-day event volunteer\, you’ll get a free “volunteer bracelet” for beer sampling and a volunteer t-shirt to boot. Shift volunteers will get an entry bracelet which can be upgraded to beer tasting and a t-shirt. \n\n\n\nWe’ll have a 10 X 10 foot booth from which to “spread the gospel” about WDTU. Set up will start at 1 PM\, so we’ll be meeting at 12:45 PM. The event runs from 2 to 6 PM. We’ll be asked to help with clean-up after the event closes. This should be a fun event (the free entry will help). Dan Pass is spearheading this activity for us\, and he is looking for 5 to 10 volunteers. If you’re interested and/or want more information\, call Dan at 303-877-5715.
