SUMMARY:Chapter Family Picnic at Lake Lehow
DESCRIPTION:The WDTU Summer Family Picnic is Sunday\, August 20th\, 2023 from 11:00 AM until around 5:00 PM. This will be a fun and secluded location for families and Chapter members to enjoy a day of catch and release fishing\, hiking\, games\, camaraderie\, and good food. The Chapter will provide fried chicken\, potato salad and coleslaw\, as well as water\, soft drinks\, and chips. Let us know if you can bring a side dish or a dessert. Think baked beans\, salads\, pies\, cakes\, and cookies. \n\n\n\nReserve a Spot Here\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLake Lehow is a Colorado Parks and Wildlife facility across the street from the entrance to Waterton Canyon. The private stocked lake\, large covered pavilion\, and spin and fly-fishing equipment available for our use at no charge\, and outhouses are provided for free by CPW. No fishing license is required there since the land is owned by Denver Water. The lake is bank access only\, no wading\, and offers a wheelchair accessible fishing pier also. The Platte River/ Waterton Canyon is across the street if someone wants to further explore or bike the area. No dogs are allowed in the Canyon due to the big horn sheep herds. Lehow has stocked trout\, bass\, some perch and catfish\, and bluegill.

DESCRIPTION:This fishing outing is on Tuesday\, February 18th\, the day before our next Chapter Meeting. You’re invited to join us for our first fishing trip of the year! \n\n\n\nWe will be going to Chatfield State Park to fish the South Platte River where it enters Chatfield Reservoir. We will do a quick entomology check in the river to see what insect and invertebrate life we find. We’ll take that information and use it to try and catch fish. \n\n\n\nAll are welcome\, we recommend waders to walk in the river\, a valid fishing license is required to participate in fishing. There are trails nearby where you can participate without needing waders\, or just come for the entomology lesson. \n\n\n\nThis is a free non-profit fishing education event held by WDTU’s “Fishing Buddies” program. \n\n\n\nDetails: Meet at Chatfield State Park\, 11500 N Roxborough Park Rd\, Littleton 80125 \n\n\n\nArrive by 10 am\, Fish until 2! \n\n\n\nVisit us at www.westdenvertu.org\, or contact Dan Pass for more info.
