Help CPW Stock Greenbacks!
September 13, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Ten volunteers in good physical condition are needed. Colorado Parks and Wildlife will be stocking 4,000 young of the year Bear Creek greenback cutthroat trout into Herman Gulch. They would like to evenly spread these fish across the approximately 4 miles of habitat. This will be accomplished by dividing fish into 20 aerated bags, and then each aerated bag of fish will be hiked to a specific, pre-determined location to be stocked. Volunteers should be in good physical condition to hike a bag of fish (approximately 20 pounds of fish and water) in a backpack to a pre-determined location (1 to 4 miles hiking distance), and release the fish into the stream. Here is the required gear: hiking boots, an internal frame backpack (the kind used for overnight hiking trips), plenty of water, lunch and rain gear. A GPS unit will be useful, but not required. Volunteers will meet at 10:00 at the Herman Gulch exit (Exit 218) off I-70. This exit is three miles west of Bakerville. The stocking work should be finished by 3:00pm.
